my brother and i squatted in a one room apartment in instanbul for almost two months, while i taught english and he sold carpets. we shared the room with a guy named Scott Martin from Barbados. He would tell us stories about his pet iguanas that he drowned and stuffed and tried to take on his trip, and stories about the 'pigs in the indian toilets'

we took turns cooking dinner, and this one night, we were particularly homesick. Ryan cooked, and I wrote this song.
