melanie and i were house mates all through university in calgary. she had moved to toronto in 2001 and started seeing a man named George. we all spent New Years together in 2005, and a few short months later, he died suddenly from a rare and undiagnosed heart condition. He was an amazing kind and generous man.

sometimes it takes something like that for you to really appreciate what you have.
